Linear EquationsAlgebraType in the answer (TITA)Easy
Stocks A, B and C are priced at ₹120, ₹90 and ₹150 per share, respectively. A trader holds a portfolio consisting of 10 shares of stock A, and 20 shares of stocks B and C put together. If the total value of her portfolio is ₹3300, then the number of shares of stock B that she holds, is
Answer & solution

Answer: 15

Stock A is fixed at 10 shares worth 10\times 120=1200, so B and C together must account for 3300-1200=2100.

Let her hold m shares of B, so she holds 20-m of C:

90m+150\left( 20-m \right)=2100, that is 3000-60m=2100.

So 60m=900 and m=15.

(Check: 15 of B and 5 of C give 1350+750=2100.)
