Answer & solution

Answer: 900

Write everything in terms of the bond investment B. Since bonds are 25\% of gold, gold is 4B, and stocks take the rest: 100000-5B.

The total return is

0.10\left( 100000-5B \right)+0.06B+0.08\left( 4B \right)=8200.

That is 10000-0.5B+0.06B+0.32B=8200, so 10000-0.12B=8200.

Hence 0.12B=1800 and B=15000.

The question asks for the gain from bonds, not the amount invested: 0.06\times 15000=900, that is ₹900.
