IIM B UG (B.Sc-Hons.)- Sample Paper 2026 question on Arrangements, with the answer and a step-by-step solution.
- ANone
- BMore than two
- COne
- DTwo
Answer & solution
Answer: Option D
Number the days Monday 1 to Sunday 7. U is on Thursday, day 4.
Only one person sits between P and U, so P is two days from U — day 2 or day 6.
T is immediately after P, so T is day 3 or day 7.
If P were day 2 and T day 3, then 'as many before T as after S' would need two people after S, putting S on day 5. But day 5 would then have to be free, and the pair V followed by Q can only fit on days 5 and 6 once Q is kept off Sunday. That clashes, so this case fails.
So P is day 6 and T is day 7.
Six people sit before T, so six must sit after S, which puts S on day 1.
V and Q are consecutive with Q second, and the free days are 2, 3 and 5, so V is day 2 and Q is day 3. R takes day 5.
The full week is S, V, Q, U, R, P, T from Monday to Sunday.
Between R on Friday and V on Tuesday lie Wednesday and Thursday, that is Q and U — two people.
